In order to complement the Rothko museum’s collection with works by French artists, the Rothko Museum and the French Institute of Latvia are launching a new residency program for artists working in the field of textile and fiber. This residency call is open to artists based and working in France. Priority will be given to artists working with recycled materials.
The deadline for submitting entries is June 30
Location and dates of the residency: Rothko Museum in Daugavpils, Latvia, between October 1st and December 20th, 2024. Duration of the residency: 10-14 days.
The selection of the resident artist will be based on the submitted application dossier (including a completed application form, a letter of motivation, the artist’s CV and portfolio, in accordance with the conditions specified below).
The French Institute in Latvia covers:
- Travel expenses for the artist from France to Daugavpils and back.
- Accommodation and meals for the artist in Daugavpils.
- Part of the necessary materials for the creation of the artworks (to be agreed upon in advance after receiving confirmation of the residency).
The Rothko Museum covers:
- Workspaces with necessary equipment and facilities, as well as support staff.
- Promotion of the artist (communication opportunities surrounding the artist’s work, dissemination of information in the media).
- Recreation program and discovery tours of the city and surrounding areas, artistic and cultural structures of Daugavpils.
- Depending on the success of the residency project, the Rothko Museum may offer the artist the opportunity to organize an exhibition or other forms of artistic representation as part of the museum’s future programming, in the museum’s exhibition halls or at another cultural site in Daugavpils..
