Otar Sharabidze’s Ceramic Workshop

Otar Sharabidze is one of the outstanding Ceramic Artist living in Tetritskaro, Kvemo Kartli Region. After graduating from the department of ceramics at Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, the master continued his career in St. Petersburg, where he lived for eight years and worked in various factories creating new designs for the ceramic productions.
Years later, in 1996, the master was invited to one of the universities in Istanbul, where he established the Faculty of Ceramics and dedicated 16 years of his life to passing the knowledge of ceramics to the next generations. Otar Sharabidze was invited to numerous exhibitions and biennials in various countries – Turkey, France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Canada and Georgia.
After the long professional journey, the ceramic artist decided to return to Georgia and create a cosy artistic space in Tetritskaro. The workshop space became a source of inspiration for his new designs and creative ideas. “I always wanted to create a shared space that would become a meeting point for people to gather, rest and talk about the arts”, said the artist. The house and workshop of the master are adorned with an old XIX century wooden balcony.
Every detail of the interior is designed by the master, which makes the visit to the ceramic artist a unique experience to remember. The workshop produces modern style glazed tableware – teapots, cups, plates, as well as decorative compositions and sculptures. Each work is individual and one of a kind. 
The master is constantly in search of new shapes; not a single item is identical. As Otar Sharabidze points out, he is the first ceramic artist in Georgia to receive the different textures of surface by using leaves. The Raku technique involves extracting the product from the gas stove in the middle of the combustion process to make additional decor and putting it in a closed vessel, in leaves or sawdust.
In addition to his artistic life, Otar Sharabidze teaches Art History and pottery at the School of Tetritskaro and contributes greatly to the development of taste and artistic skills among children.

Otar Sharabidze est l’un des plus remarquables artistes céramistes vivant à Tetritskaro, dans la région de Kvemo Kartli. Après avoir obtenu son diplôme au département de céramique de la Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, le maître a poursuivi sa carrière à Saint-Pétersbourg, où il a vécu pendant huit ans en travaillant dans différentes manufactures et en créant de nouveaux designs pour les productions céramiques.

Des années plus tard, en 1996, le maître a été invité dans l’une des universités d’Istanbul, où il a fondé la Faculté de Céramique et consacré 16 années de sa vie à transmettre les savoirs de la céramique aux nouvelles générations. Otar Sharabidze a participé à de nombreuses expositions et biennales dans différents pays, Turquie, France, Allemagne, Belgique, Pays-Bas, Bulgarie, Canada et Géorgie.

Après ce long parcours professionnel, l’artiste céramiste a décidé de retourner en Géorgie et de créer un espace artistique chaleureux à Tetritskaro. L’atelier est devenu une source d’inspiration pour ses nouveaux designs et ses idées créatives. « J’ai toujours voulu créer un espace partagé qui devienne un lieu de rencontre où les gens puissent se réunir, se reposer et parler d’art », explique l’artiste. La maison et l’atelier du maître sont ornés d’un ancien balcon en bois du XIXe siècle.

Chaque détail de l’intérieur a été conçu par le maître lui-même, faisant de la visite de l’atelier une expérience unique et mémorable. L’atelier produit de la vaisselle émaillée de style contemporain, théières, tasses, assiettes. ainsi que des compositions décoratives et des sculptures. Chaque œuvre est individuelle et unique.

Le maître est constamment à la recherche de nouvelles formes ; aucun objet n’est identique à un autre. Comme le souligne Otar Sharabidze, il est le premier artiste céramiste en Géorgie à avoir obtenu différentes textures de surface grâce à l’utilisation de feuilles. La technique du Raku consiste à retirer la pièce du four à gaz pendant le processus de combustion afin d’ajouter des décorations supplémentaires et à la placer dans un récipient fermé, avec des feuilles ou de la sciure.

En plus de sa pratique artistique, Otar Sharabidze enseigne l’Histoire de l’Art et la céramique à l’école de Tetritskaro et contribue grandement au développement du goût et des compétences artistiques chez les enfants.

Otar Sharabidze es uno de los artistas ceramistas más destacados que viven en Tetritskaro, en la región de Kvemo Kartli. Tras graduarse en el departamento de cerámica de la Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, el maestro continuó su carrera en San Petersburgo, donde vivió durante ocho años trabajando en diferentes fábricas y creando nuevos diseños para producciones cerámicas.

Años más tarde, en 1996, el maestro fue invitado a una de las universidades de Estambul, donde fundó la Facultad de Cerámica y dedicó 16 años de su vida a transmitir los conocimientos de la cerámica a las nuevas generaciones. Otar Sharabidze fue invitado a numerosas exposiciones y bienales en distintos países — Turquía, Francia, Alemania, Bélgica, Países Bajos, Bulgaria, Canadá y Georgia.

Tras este largo recorrido profesional, el artista ceramista decidió regresar a Georgia y crear un acogedor espacio artístico en Tetritskaro. El taller se convirtió en una fuente de inspiración para sus nuevos diseños e ideas creativas. «Siempre quise crear un espacio compartido que se convirtiera en un lugar de encuentro donde las personas pudieran reunirse, descansar y hablar sobre arte», afirma el artista. La casa y el taller del maestro están decorados con un antiguo balcón de madera del siglo XIX.

Cada detalle del interior está diseñado por el propio maestro, lo que convierte la visita al ceramista en una experiencia única e inolvidable. El taller produce vajilla esmaltada de estilo contemporáneo — teteras, tazas, platos — así como composiciones decorativas y esculturas. Cada obra es individual y única.

El maestro está constantemente buscando nuevas formas; ningún objeto es idéntico a otro. Como señala Otar Sharabidze, es el primer artista ceramista de Georgia en obtener diferentes texturas superficiales mediante el uso de hojas. La técnica Raku consiste en extraer la pieza del horno de gas durante el proceso de combustión para realizar decoraciones adicionales y colocarla en un recipiente cerrado, entre hojas o serrín.

Además de su vida artística, Otar Sharabidze enseña Historia del Arte y cerámica en la escuela de Tetritskaro y contribuye enormemente al desarrollo del gusto y de las capacidades artísticas entre los niños.

Otar Sharabidze è uno dei più importanti artisti ceramisti che vivono a Tetritskaro, nella regione di Kvemo Kartli. Dopo essersi laureato presso il dipartimento di ceramica della Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, il maestro ha proseguito la sua carriera a San Pietroburgo, dove ha vissuto per otto anni lavorando in diverse fabbriche e creando nuovi design per le produzioni ceramiche.

Anni dopo, nel 1996, il maestro è stato invitato in una delle università di Istanbul, dove ha fondato la Facoltà di Ceramica e dedicato 16 anni della sua vita alla trasmissione della conoscenza della ceramica alle nuove generazioni. Otar Sharabidze è stato invitato a numerose mostre e biennali in diversi paesi, tra i quali Turchia, Francia, Germania, Belgio, Paesi Bassi, Bulgaria, Canada e Georgia.

Dopo questo lungo percorso professionale, l’artista ceramista ha deciso di tornare in Georgia e creare un accogliente spazio artistico a Tetritskaro. Il laboratorio è diventato una fonte di ispirazione per i suoi nuovi design e le sue idee creative. «Ho sempre voluto creare uno spazio condiviso che diventasse un punto d’incontro dove le persone potessero riunirsi, riposarsi e parlare d’arte», racconta l’artista. La casa e il laboratorio del maestro sono decorati con un antico balcone in legno del XIX secolo.

Ogni dettaglio degli interni è progettato dal maestro stesso, rendendo la visita al ceramista un’esperienza unica da ricordare. Il laboratorio produce stoviglie smaltate in stile moderno con teiere, tazze, piatti, oltre a composizioni decorative e sculture. Ogni opera è individuale e unica nel suo genere.

Il maestro è costantemente alla ricerca di nuove forme; nessun oggetto è identico all’altro. Come sottolinea Otar Sharabidze, è il primo artista ceramista in Georgia ad aver ottenuto diverse texture superficiali utilizzando le foglie. La tecnica Raku consiste nell’estrarre il pezzo dal forno a gas durante il processo di combustione per realizzare decorazioni aggiuntive e collocarlo in un recipiente chiuso, tra foglie o segatura.

Oltre alla sua attività artistica, Otar Sharabidze insegna Storia dell’Arte e ceramica presso la scuola di Tetritskaro e contribuisce notevolmente allo sviluppo del gusto e delle capacità artistiche dei bambini.

ოთარ შარაბიძე თეთრიწყაროში მცხოვრები ერთ-ერთი გამორჩეული ოსტატია. მან კერამიკაზე მუშაობა თბილისის სახელმწიფო სამხატვრო აკადემიაში შეისწავლა. სწავლის დასრულების შემდეგ რვა წლის განმავლობაში ცხოვრობდა პეტერბურგში, სადაც სხვადასხვა ქარხანაში მუშაობდა და ქმნიდა ესკიზებს კერამიკული ნამუშევრების შესაქმნელად. საქართველოში ჩამოსვლის შემდეგ გარკვეული პერიოდის განმავლობაში მან დამოუკიდებლად განაგრძო მუშაობა, მანამ სანამ 1996 წელს მიიწვიეს სტამბულში ერთ-ერთ გამოფენაზე. სწორედ ამ გამოფენის შემდეგ მას შესთავაზეს, სტამბულის ერთ-ერთ უნივერსიტეტში მუშაობის დაწყება.
ბატონმა ოთარმა უნივერსიტეტში ჩამოაყალიბა კერამიკის ფაკულტეტის მიმართულება, სადაც 16 წლის განმავლობაში ასწავლიდა სტუდენტებს. ის არაერთ გამოფენებსა და ბიენალეებზე იყო მიწვეული სხვადასხვა ქვეყნებში – თურქეთში, საფრანგეთში, გერმანიაში, ბელგიაში, ჰოლანდიაში, ბულგარეთში კანადასა და საქართველოში. მიუხედავად იმისა, რომ ბ-ნი ოთარი დიდი ხნის განმავლობაში ცხოვრობდა და მოღვაწეობდა სტამბულში, საბოლოოდ მან საქართველოში დაბრუნება გადაწყვიტა. ოსტატი დასახლდა თეთრიწყაროში. სწორედ ამ ქალაქში მან შექმნა სივრცე, სადაც ბუნება და მასთან აქტიური კონტაქტი ოსტატის ინსპირაციის წყარო გახდა ახალი ნამუშევრების შესაქმნელად.
ბ-ნი ოთარი აღნიშნავს, რომ ყოველთვის უნდოდა შეექმნა სივრცე, სადაც ხელოვნების ნებისმიერი დარგის წარმომადგენლისთვის დასვენების, შეკრების და საინტერესო თემების განხილვის სივრცე იქნებოდა. საცხოვრებელ სახლს, სადაც სახელოსნო არის მოწყობილი ძველი ხის ჭვირული აივანი ამშვენებს. სახლის ინტერიერში თითოეული დეტალი და დიზაინი ოსტატის მიერაა შექმნილი. ყოველივე ეს კი განსაკუთრებულ შემოქმედებით გარემოს ქმნის აქ მომსვლელი სტუმრისთვის. ბატონი ოთარის სახელოსნოში იქმნება თანამედროვე სტილის მოჭიქული ჭურჭელი – ჩაიდნები, ჭიქები, თეფშები, ასევე დეკორატიული კომპოზიციები და სკულპტურები. თითოეული ნამუშევარი ინდივიდუალური და ექსკლუზიურია.
ოსტატი მუდმივად ახალი ფორმების ძიებაშია, სწორედ ამიტომ მისი ნამუშევრები არ მეორდება. ის ყოველთვის ცდილობს თავისი ნამუშევრები იყოს გამოყენებითი, პრაქტიკული და არა მხოლოდ დეკორატიული და სუვენირული. როგორც კერამიკოსი აღნიშნავს, ის არის პირველი კერამიკოსი საქართველოში, რომელმაც ფოთლები გამოიყენა თავის ნამუშევრებზე. ამის საშუალებას აძლევს რაკუს ტექნოლოგია, რომელიც გაზის ღუმელის გამოყენებით პროდუქციის დამზადებაა შესაძლებელი. რაკუს ტექნოლოგია გულისხმობს შუა წვის პროცესში გაზის ღუმელიდან ნაკეთობის გამოღებას დამატებითი დეკორის გაკეთებას და დახურულ ჭურჭელში, ფოთლებში ან ნახერხში ჩადებას.
გარდა საკუთარი შემოქმედებისა, ბატონი ოთარი ხელოვნების ისტორიას ასწავლის თეთრიწყაროს სკოლაში და ასევე ატარებს კერამიკაზე მუშაობის მასტერკლასებს. ოსტატი ცდილობს სკოლის ასაკიდან ბავშვებში განავითაროს ხელოვნების და განსაკუთრებით კერამიკის მიმართ სიყვარული.
