The armchairs are carved walnut in the manner of Louis XIV (probably 17th century). The chairs’ arms are sculpted with entwined leaves and retract for comfort. Their curved movement raises them up to rest on the support. The intersection with the chair’s legs is adorned with a carved spinning top. The feet are carved balustrades with floral designs. A polychrome flower fabric on a yellow background covers the seat and back of a fabric chair.

The textile artist creates textile objects primarily out of natural fibres like cotton, wool, or silk. Knitting, needlework, stitching, wickerwork, or felting are just a few of the abilities needed. The person who creates curtains, upholstery, padding, and various types of upholstery as well as repairs and refurbishes worn-out and/or damaged items is referred to as an upholsterer.

One of the interventions frequently required to return period furniture to its functionality and restore it to the glory it once had is to restore the chairs. This will restore the furniture’s attractiveness and the seat’s comfortable, full forms. Because upholstery frequently loses its texture over time owing to use and wear, replacing it is a difficult task that calls for precision and skill.

It basically involves restoring the chair’s functionality and appearance while attempting to preserve its unique characteristics. If the recovery is not possible, it is better to use materials that will allow for the preservation of the characteristics for which the object was originally intended.
