The Salt International Basketry Fair (Fira Internacional del Cistell de Salt), held every first weekend of October in Salt, Catalonia, is one of Europe’s leading events dedicated to basketry and woven crafts. Organized by the City Council of Salt together with the Associació Catalana de Cistellers i Cistelleres, the fair brings together artisans, designers, artists, and weaving communities from across Europe and beyond through exhibitions, demonstrations, workshops, competitions, and cultural activities. Deeply rooted in the cultural life of the town, the fair has become an important space for the transmission, recovery, and contemporary reinterpretation of basketry traditions. Alongside traditional Catalan weaving techniques, the event highlights innovative and artistic approaches linked to natural fibres and woven forms. The fair also hosts the International Basketry Competition Roser Albó (CICRA), which promotes creativity, craftsmanship, and the preservation of basket-making knowledge through both traditional and contemporary categories.
