The European Crafts Alliance (ECA), a network of 38 craft organisations from 23 countries, unveiled the Crafting Europe Manifesto 2025 at the symposium Towards a European Strategy for Crafts, held at Révélations 2025 at the Grand Palais in Paris.
Building on its original 2019 edition, the renewed manifesto responds to today’s evolving cultural and economic challenges with a strategic six-point action plan aimed at securing the future of Europe’s diverse craft sector. It advocates for greater recognition, support, and inclusion of crafts within EU policy and funding frameworks.
“Crafts are at the foundation of Europe’s identity and economy. This manifesto is our collective vision—and a call for meaningful, sustained policy action,” said Cristina Mendes, President of the ECA.
Action Plan Highlights:
-
Ensure representation of all craft disciplines in EU programmes
-
Support enterprise growth and market access
-
Address the decline in skills transmission and training
-
Research and quantify craft’s socio-economic value
-
Recognise and protect the sector through legislation
-
Propose a European Year of Craft (2026–2030)
