The European Crafts Alliance is pleased to invite nominations for Crafted Origins: Celebrating Europe’s Craft Geographical Indications, a first ever exhibition of its kind dedicated to some of the first craft products registered under the European Union’s Geographical Indications system.
The introduction of the European GI framework for craft and industrial products marks a historic moment for the European craft sector. For the first time, crafts have a dedicated system that recognises and protects the connection between a product, its place of origin, and the knowledge and skills that shape its production.
To celebrate this achievement, the European Crafts Alliance and the GI Expert Working Group are organising a curated exhibition as part of OFICI Traditional Craft Fair in Cardona, Spain, taking place from 6 to 8 November 2026, and hosted by the Consortium of Commerce, Crafts and Fashion of Catalonia (CCAM) in collaboration with Le Département.
The ECA Capsule Exhibition will bring together around ten carefully selected works that reflect the diversity, quality and cultural richness of Europe’s craft heritage.
Through these works, visitors will discover how craftsmanship, territory and tradition are closely connected. The exhibition will also highlight the role that Geographical Indications can play in supporting cultural heritage, regional identity and local development.
