Online talk in the context of 1m2 flax

In this webinar we delve into the fascinating folk culture around flax and linen. Heleen Lorijn (NL) unravels the hidden stories behind the linen closet: how linen was the wealth and pride of the farmer and an indispensable part of the dowry.

Jan Lefebvre (BE) shows how flaxmen from previous centuries were guided in their daily actions by (super)belief and devotion: flax misses, sacrifices, blessings, processions and pilgrimages kept demons and other dark forces at bay and ensured a good harvest.

With the series of webinars in the context of 1m2 flax, we join forces with our partner Crafts Council Netherlands. During each lecture, a Belgian and a Dutch expert will delve deeper into unexposed or unsuspected aspects of flax or linen.
