The Fundación Culturas Constructivas Tradicionales has opened the new edition of the Premios de las Artes de la Construcción, a series of annual awards dedicated to master craftspeople and professionals working in traditional building trades. The initiative is supported by the Spanish Ministry of Culture and Sport, in collaboration with INTBAU España and the Consejo Superior de Colegios de Arquitectos de España.
The awards aim to highlight traditional building techniques and the transmission of knowledge that contribute to the preservation of architectural heritage. Applications are open until 21 January 2026.
The competition is organised into four categories, each granting an annual prize of 10,000 euros and a commemorative plaque:
Masonry and stonework (arches, vaults, vaulted staircases, stone carving and related techniques).
Carpentry and woodwork (timber structures, frameworks, furniture, mocárabes, woodturning, carving, door and window joinery, and other specialised works).
Finishes and traditional decorative works (tilework, mosaics, plasterwork, stuccoes, sgraffito, decorative pavements and other techniques).
Glass and metalwork (forged ironwork, grilles, fittings, leaded stained glass and other traditional works).
The awards seek to strengthen public recognition of traditional building crafts and support their continuity.
