Among the products made are handbags, wallets, various accessories, briefcases and calligraphies… Beginnings Munira Leather was founded in the 1980’s with the help of its founder Munira Mendonça in a small workshop in the Alpujarras. Over time, he improved his skills in leather goods, and developed a range of products with their own unique identity. Because of its location, and his love of Granada tradition, his designs were inspired by the art that still exists in the streets of Granada. He also specializes in the traditional Granada ways of working leather which in the modern day has almost been lost. His vision was, and remains, to incorporate more traditional techniques for the production of current accessories. Actuality Much has changed since the founding of the company. What began as a crafts workshop, where many models are manufactured without continuity, it has now become more professional thanks to demand and customer feedback. Now, collections and stock is taken into account to give our customers the best possible experience. Each skin, motif, color, design is all still going through our hands, which ensures for quality standards which ultimately define us and the commitment we owe to our customers. Today, the headquarters of the firm is located in the heart of Granada, where design, production products and impact products continue to be innovated and developed with new techniques for the same purpose – to create products of unique and exclusive leather. Members Following family tradition, the firm today is formed by the founder Munira Mendonça who is the designer of unique pieces and is considered as one of the last repujadoras of Granada. His son, Hamsa Bermejo, takes on the multidisciplinary tradition of innovation and designing through the use of new techniques that are now common in the world of leather. In addition, depending on the workload, many skilled workers are incorporated in different fields for the production of leather goods. Over time, Granada developed its own unique style and technique. Every leather item made by this firm is the result of more than twenty years of research and practice in the techniques used in Granada’s traditional leather tooling and polychroming. A study that reached its height with the teachings of Diego Campos Mariscal, the last master craftsman in Granada, of whose collaboration we are profoundly grateful for. Our study of ancient designs as well as our use of traditional tools places each item well within the leather tradition of Spain, a rich but dying craft.
