A product designer trained at the Edinburgh College of Art, Mary Ann Attard (born 1983) has been experimenting with art and design since a young age. In 2008, she was awarded the prestigious D&AD Prize for Fulu, a conceptual sofa inspired by fava-beans and later prototyped in polyurethane. The same year, she got short-listed for designing a cocktail glass for the Bombay Sapphire Cocktail Glass Competition. Back in Malta, she worked for the past 5 years as a graphic designer for the print and film industry, with a short stint as design teacher. Mary Ann is now working in ceramics under the pseudonym of Xineza, producing hand-made tiles and house pottery with a fun and ironic twist.
