Esparto workshop: Creation of a jar (tinajera) – Given by Sonia Lekuona López
The workshop consists of making a medium-sized basket called “tinajera”, with a pleita of 15 branches. The necessary measurements will be taken to make the sketch of the different pieces and then we will go on to cut the pleita. The sewing of the pieces will be done by hand with a needle specific to the trade and hemp thread. Once the base has been made, in the shape of a cross, the walls of the jar will be raised and the “mouth” will be sewn with 2 pieces of pleita. Finally, the seams are reinforced and, depending on the time remaining, a decorative stitch can be made. A break of 10-15 minutes in which a typical local infusion, matalauva, will be offered.
