Esparto Basketry Workshop: Eco Coasters – Taught by Sonia Lekuona López

The basket weaving technique “punto peinado or filete” will be taught using esparto grass, sustainably dyed, together with a brief introduction of how we have dyed the esparto grass. The circular coaster will have an approximate diameter of 10-11cm and we will first make one with woven esparto grass to learn the technique and then another, of free design, with sustainably dyed woven esparto grass (Palo campeche, spirulina, sumac, turmeric, dyed blonde, tea,…). Finally we will teach how to close the circle on both coasters. In this workshop we will only use needle in the closing phase of the circle, the rest will be 100% without tools. Break of 10-15 minutes where we will offer a typical infusion of the area, matalauva.

Duration: 4 hours (same day morning or afternoon).

Number of participants: 2 to 10 people

Opening hours: Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00, Saturday from 10:00 to 14:00.
