Esparto Workshop: Creation of a mini basket

Workshop: Creation of a mini basket – Taught by Sonia Lekuona López

We will teach, through the making of this mini tray, several sewing stitches. First we will take the measurements to know how much pleita we will need, in this project we will use one of 13 or 15 strands, and so we will mark the different pieces. Then we will sew the base with three equal strips of pleita, then we will shape the base to be able to sew around the outside wall of the basket/tray. Then, to finish, we will sew the inside wall. We will use a needle specific to the esparto craft and hemp thread. A 10-15 minute break in which a typical local tea, Matalauva, will be offered.

Duration : 3 hours and a half (same day morning or afternoon)

Number of participants: 2 to 8 people

Opening hours: By appointment at least 2 days in advance within the following timetable: Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00, Saturdays from 10:00 to 14:00.
