Constructor de bóvedas, maestro yesero y profesor en distintos másteres universitarios de restauración. Ha intervenido en la construcción y rehabilitación de más de 300 bóvedas hasta la fecha.

Es director de CREA Rehabilitación y Restauración  S.L., desde la que ha trabajado en numerosas obras de rehabilitación, entre las que se cuentan algunas de las de mayor importancia, realizadas en España en los últimos 30 años.
Ha profundizado en las técnicas constructivas históricas y ha desarrollado nuevas técnicas para la conservación y restauración del patrimonio.

Es autor, asimismo, de un buen número de publicaciones sobre yesos y estructuras abovedadas.

APRENDIZAJE

Se formó en el seno de su familia, constructores y albañiles desde hace varias generaciones. Gran parte de lo aprendido ha sido gracias a la tradición y al modo tradicional de transmisión del conocimiento: de maestro a aprendiz.
Por otra parte, en la actualidad continúa formándose y aprendiendo a través del estudio y el análisis de la arquitectura histórica; el ejercicio de la restauración; y la investigación, entendiendo esta formación como una creación colectiva de conocimiento y compartiendo experiencias con otros profesionales en congresos y seminarios.

DOCENCIA

Estas investigaciones las comparte y divulga a través de conferencias, talleres y seminarios en los principales programas de postgrado en restauración de las universidades españolas. Sin renunciar en ningún caso al sistema de enseñanza tradicional de los oficios, con sus aprendices a pie de obra, construyendo con ellos bóvedas y cúpulas de todo tipo.

Carlos Martín es autor de diversas publicaciones como capítulos en libros sobre restauración, artículos en revistas como Informes de la Construcción y ponencias en los congresos de Historia de la Construcción.

La bodega de Valdemonjas es un conjunto edificatorio moderno, cuyo proyecto establece requisitos de construcción energéticamente autosuficiente. La zona destinada a la maduración del vino, condicionada por el requisito funcional de alcanzar determinadas condiciones higrotérmicas -las adecuadas para la maduración del vino de forma natural-, requería de un espacio enterrado; para ese espaciose recurrió auna bóveda tradicional de ladrillo, no por motivos de carácter estético, sino de orden práctico, dadas las virtudes que los materiales constituyentes de la fábrica tienen para el funcionamiento de los espacios destinados a fermentación y maduración…

Carlos Martín is a vault builder, master plasterer, and lecturer in various university master’s degree courses in restoration. He has been involved in the construction and restoration of more than 300 vaults, up to this date.
He is the director of CREA Rehabilitación y Restauración S.L., from which he has worked on numerous restoration projects, some of the most important ones being carried out in Spain over the last 30 years.
He has studied historical building techniques in-depth and has developed new techniques for the conservation and restoration of heritage.
He is also the author of a number of publications on plasterwork and vaulted structures.

LEARNING
On the one hand, he learned his know-how from his family, builders, and masons for several generations. Much of what he has learned has been thanks to tradition and the traditional way of passing on knowledge: from master to apprentice.
On the other hand, he currently continues to train and learn through the study and analysis of historical architecture; the practice of restoration and research, understanding this training as a collective creation of knowledge, and sharing experiences with other professionals in congresses and seminars.

TEACHING
Carlos shares and disseminates his research through conferences, workshops, and seminars mainly in postgraduate programs in restoration in Spanish universities. At the same time, he never renounced in any case to the traditional teaching system of his profession, he built, with his apprentices’ on-site, vaults and domes of all kinds.
Carlos Martín is the author of several publications such as chapters in books on restoration, articles in journals such as Informes de la Construcción, and papers given at congresses on the History of Construction.

The Valdemonjas winery is a modern building complex, whose project establishes energy self-sufficient construction requirements.
