Visit of Musée Charlier – Step n. 5. This white piano is reminiscent of yesteryear’s musical evenings in the concert room, where important instrumentalists such as Arthur De Greef attended. King Leopold II commissioned this 1906 Erard piano for the Baroness of Vaughan. A highly refined object with various embellishments of natural motifs.

The pianist is a master in three different fields. that of mechanics, metal, and wood. While each specialist is given a specific task when making new pianos, the artisan who restores them must be skilled in every process, including harmonisation and tuning.

The skill of manufacturing this musical instrument, however, continues to captivate many craftsmen who practice this craft today. Discover how the craftsman’s ability to adapt the wood substance allows the production of an instrument as intriguing as the sound it generates, and how Jacques Magnette achieves this accomplishment.
