BlackWool

General presentation

BlackWool

BlackWool is a project I founded in 2019. Initially a graduation project, it’s now a full-time, lifelong endeavor.

It all started with a desire to trace the wool supply chain and understand its transformation. This universal material clothes every continent, yet it remains so discreet. Its value is declining because this raw material is currently considered waste from the agricultural industry.

I harvest it as soon as it’s sheared and exhaust its potential. I card it, felt it, spin it, and dye it. Mindful of the environmental impact of the textile industry in general, I collect my textile scraps from garment making and reintegrate them into my raw material. From this, I create a new raw material: multimix.

Self-sufficient in my supply, I create according to the shearing schedule, using the specific qualities of wool I harvest. Each piece is unique, whether in the field of art or design, and shares a small piece of the story of the sheep that provided me with the fleece.

BlackWool
