BUDDING COMPANIONS

EDUCATIONAL OFFER PRIMARY AND SECONDARY LEVELS (September to June)
Duration:
1 to 4 days (boarding or day school*)

This activity encourages the development of observation skills, inventiveness and independence. A fun and active visit to the former Paix-Dieu abbey gives pupils the chance to discover the past and present of this place steeped in history. This activity offers a unique encounter with the architectural heritage and the skills of the craftsmen.

Topics covered: history of the site, building materials, trades, heritage, archaeology, vocabulary.

Type of activities: discovery activities (drawing, photo quiz, team projects), workshop work (slate roofing, coppersmithing, carpentry, decorative painting, stonemasonry, carpentry, rock cement work, ceramics and glass engraving, dry stone masonry).

Trainers: a teacher and a craftsman

Target group: children from 3rd primary 3 to 1st secondary
Number of participants: 5 minimum

*70-bed accommodation, with catering facilities, is available for classes taking part in activities over several days, allowing them to get to grips with the site and the learning process.
