KINTSU HANDMADE was born from the idea of Anita Cerrato, restorer and writer, and Giancarlo Bozzani, designer and painter. United by their passion for refined aesthetics and the harmony of Japanese culture, the two founders embarked on a journey to express their vision of beauty: “a beauty like an island, a moment, a whispered word, an instant; it is pure quality, an intoxication that will always leave an eternal nostalgia.” – Fosco Maraini.
For years, Anita and Giancarlo have been organizing kintsugi courses to share this extraordinary technique. Their lessons are individual and customized, tailored to the specific needs of each participant. Each session lasts approximately three hours. However, due to the time required for the traditional method, the courses do not include the original technique for gluing and filling the fragments, as a week is needed between steps. The gilding, on the other hand, is carried out using the traditional kintsugi technique.
The kits provided during the courses include a 10-gram tube of urushi and a specific kintsugi brush, both specially made for them by their suppliers in Kyoto.
For those passionate about learning the technique in greater depth, Anita and Giancarlo also offer advanced courses divided into four weekly sessions, allowing participants to practice every stage of the original kintsugi method.
At the end of the courses, participants receive enough materials to continue experimenting with kintsugi on at least twenty ceramic pieces.
