The tradition of working with precious and semi-precious stones, glyptic, and cloisonné enamel is one of the oldest crafts in Georgia. Today, many masters create cloisonné enamel and glyptic items, but the workshop under the brand name “Phery Jewelry” holds a prominent role in this field. Founded by Georgian artist Giorgi Iakobashvili, glyptic and enamel master Nana Tolomashvili, and their son Giga Iakobashvili, each creation from the workshop is distinguished by its individual style and uniqueness. Our workshop’s history began approximately 45 years ago. Over the years, we have specialized in working with gemstones, metals, and enamel. We create engravings primarily on religious themes, producing icons, small chests, and bells with engraved biblical scenes, crosses, cameos, and jewelry. Traditional themes are central to our work, with pieces noted for their artistic value and high level of craftsmanship. Cloisonné enamel is another main area of our activity, in which we have developed our own individual style. We create both ecclesiastical and secular items, each characterized by originality, with unique depictions of saints in the icons. We also combine enamel with semi-precious stones like turquoise, onyx, agate, and carnelian. In addition to traditional themes, we are developing a modern line of Georgian enamel, inspired by medieval Georgian art.Old motifs in modern design are the main feature of our creativity. Each piece is unique and distinctive, achieved through a technology we invented that imitates drops on metal and combines various materials and precious stones. La tradition de travail avec les pierres précieuses et semi-précieuses, la glyptique et l’émail cloisonné est l’un des métiers artisanaux les plus anciens de Géorgie. Aujourd’hui, de nombreux maîtres créent des objets en émail cloisonné et en glyptique, mais l’atelier sous la marque “Phery Jewelry” occupe une place de premier plan dans ce domaine. L’histoire de notre atelier a commencé il y a environ 45 ans. Au fil des années, nous nous sommes spécialisés dans le travail des pierres précieuses, des métaux et de l’émail. Nous réalisons des gravures principalement sur des thèmes religieux : icônes, petits coffrets et cloches ornés de scènes bibliques gravées, croix, camées et bijoux. Les thèmes traditionnels sont au cœur de notre travail, et nos œuvres sont reconnues pour leur valeur artistique et leur haut niveau de savoir-faire.

L’émail cloisonné est un autre domaine essentiel de notre activité, dans lequel nous avons développé un style propre. Nous créons des objets à la fois religieux et profanes, tous caractérisés par leur originalité, avec des représentations uniques de saints dans les icônes. Nous associons également l’émail à des pierres semi-précieuses comme la turquoise, l’onyx, l’agate et la cornaline.

En plus des thèmes traditionnels, nous développons une ligne moderne d’émail géorgien, inspirée de l’art médiéval géorgien. L’utilisation de motifs anciens dans un design contemporain est une caractéristique essentielle de notre créativité.
