TEXTILE CRAFTS FROM HAMBURG

The experimental handling of techniques, materials and color aesthetics has occupied me since my studies at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg. After graduating from university and working independently as a graphic designer for a few years, I finally decided to change direction, which was to be the starting point of my career as an artist and craftswoman.

Inspired by a student trip to Mexico, where I became fascinated by the colorful and special Mexican art of weaving, I decided to learn the technique of hand weaving. While studying on the handloom, I was able to translate my creative ideas into fabric and discovered a wide and varied range of possibilities for textile expression. Following my journeyman’s and master’s exams, I opened my studio in, where I still produce, exhibit and sell my textile art to this day. In such a colorful and diverse district  in Hamburg-Altona I feel at home with my artistic work and always inspired over and over again.

Shortly after I learned weaving in my apprenticeship, I began to break the grid of squareness, which is fundamental to the weaving process, and to interpret and change the traditional way of weaving for myself individually. I started to create the special scarves that are characteristic of my work today. The light and airy scarves look as if they are made of captured threads, sometimes reminiscent of the paintings of Jackson Pollock. Special techniques of textile assemblage, which cannot be used industrially, make each piece a unique creation, which ranks in the borderland of art, design and fashion. In addition, my passion for the reuse and repurposing of diverse textiles in the sense of textile recycling runs through many of my works, in which the recycling idea is reflected in a creative way. In addition to selling in my store studio and through the online store, I showcase my scarf designs at many different craft fairs, trade shows and exhibitions each year and sell my work through agents in the American and Japanese markets in the meantime.
In addition to the many different scarf collections that I have designed and produced throughout my career, I also have another passion that can be primarily attributed to the field of abstract art. It is about artistic textile room objects and wall hangings, which I mostly produce and present in the context of art projects or exhibitions.

ARTISANAT TEXTILE DE HAMBURG

Mon intérêt pour les techniques, les matériaux et l’esthétique des couleurs a commencé pendant mes études à la Hochschule für bildende Künste de Hambourg. Après mon diplôme et quelques années de travail en tant que graphiste indépendante, j’ai fait un choix décisif : un changement de cap qui a marqué le début de ma carrière comme artiste et artisane textile.

Un voyage d’études au Mexique m’a profondément marquée. J’y ai découvert et admiré l’univers coloré et singulier de l’art textile mexicain. C’est ce qui m’a donné envie d’apprendre le tissage à la main sur métier à tisser. Grâce à cette formation, j’ai pu donner vie à mes idées créatives à travers le tissu, découvrant une grande diversité de moyens d’expression textile. Après avoir obtenu mes diplômes de compagnon et de maître artisane, j’ai ouvert mon atelier, où je continue à créer, exposer et vendre mes œuvres textiles.

Dans un quartier aussi coloré et vivant que Hambourg-Altona, je trouve l’inspiration au quotidien et je me sens pleinement à ma place avec mon travail artistique.

Peu après avoir appris à tisser, j’ai commencé à détourner la grille orthogonale du métier traditionnel, développant ma propre interprétation personnelle du tissage. Le résultat, ce sont des écharpes légères et aériennes, devenues emblématiques de mon travail. Elles donnent l’impression de fils capturés dans l’air, rappelant parfois les peintures de Jackson Pollock. Grâce à des techniques d’assemblage textile très particulières, impossibles à reproduire industriellement, chaque pièce devient un objet unique à mi-chemin entre l’art, le design et la mode.

Ma passion pour le recyclage textile et la revalorisation créative de matériaux variés se retrouve dans nombre de mes créations, dans lesquelles la durabilité s’exprime de façon poétique et inventive.

En plus de vendre dans mon atelier-boutique et sur ma boutique en ligne, je présente chaque année mes collections d’écharpes sur des marchés d’artisanat, des salons et des expositions. Mes œuvres sont également diffusées sur les marchés américain et japonais via des agents.

Outre mes collections de mode, je cultive un second domaine plus proche de l’art contemporain : la réalisation d’installations textiles murales et d’objets spatiaux, conçus dans le cadre de projets artistiques ou d’expositions.

ARTESANÍA TEXTIL DESDE HAMBURGO

Mi interés por explorar técnicas, materiales y la estética del color comenzó durante mis estudios en la Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes de Hamburgo. Tras graduarme y trabajar durante algunos años como diseñadora gráfica independiente, decidí dar un giro en mi trayectoria, que marcaría el verdadero comienzo de mi carrera como artista y artesana textil.

Un viaje de estudios a México me inspiró profundamente. Me fascinó el arte textil colorido y particular de ese país, lo que me llevó a aprender el tejido manual en telar. Esta técnica me permitió plasmar mis ideas creativas en tejidos y descubrir un amplio abanico de posibilidades expresivas a través del textil. Tras completar mis títulos de oficial y maestra artesana, abrí mi propio taller, donde hasta hoy creo, expongo y vendo mis obras textiles.

Vivir y trabajar en un barrio tan diverso y vibrante como Hamburgo-Altona me inspira constantemente y me hace sentir en casa con mi trabajo artístico.

Desde mis primeros pasos como tejedora, comencé a romper la cuadrícula ortogonal del telar tradicional, desarrollando mi propia interpretación artística de esta técnica. El resultado son pañuelos vaporosos y únicos, hoy característicos de mi obra. Parecen estar formados por hilos suspendidos en el aire, recordando a veces a los cuadros de Jackson Pollock. Uso técnicas especiales de ensamblaje textil que no pueden reproducirse industrialmente, lo que convierte cada pieza en una obra irrepetible, situada entre el arte, el diseño y la moda.

Mi pasión por el reciclaje textil y la reutilización creativa de materiales también atraviesa muchas de mis creaciones. La sostenibilidad está presente de forma original en buena parte de mi trabajo.

Además de vender en mi tienda-taller y tienda online, participo cada año en ferias de artesanía, exposiciones y eventos internacionales. Actualmente, también vendo mis creaciones en los mercados estadounidenses y japoneses a través de agentes.

Junto a mis colecciones de pañuelos, también me dedico a un segundo enfoque más vinculado al arte contemporáneo: la creación de objetos textiles espaciales e instalaciones murales, que desarrollo y presento principalmente dentro de proyectos artísticos o exposiciones.

ARTIGIANATO TESSILE DA AMBURGO

La mia passione per la sperimentazione di tecniche, materiali e colori è nata durante gli studi presso la Hochschule für bildende Künste di Amburgo. Dopo la laurea e qualche anno da grafica freelance, ho deciso di cambiare direzione — una scelta che ha segnato l’inizio della mia carriera come artista e artigiana tessile.

Un viaggio di studio in Messico ha avuto un impatto profondo su di me: mi ha affascinato la vivace arte tessile locale, spingendomi ad apprendere il tessuto a mano su telaio. Questa esperienza mi ha permesso di trasformare le mie idee in tessuti, esplorando un’ampia gamma di possibilità espressive. Dopo aver conseguito il titolo di artigiana qualificata e maestra tessile, ho aperto il mio atelier, dove ancora oggi produco, espongo e vendo le mie creazioni tessili.

In un quartiere così ricco di stimoli come Amburgo-Altona, mi sento perfettamente a mio agio: è un luogo che nutre e ispira costantemente la mia creatività.

Fin dall’inizio ho sentito il bisogno di rompere la griglia ortogonale del tessuto tradizionale, interpretando la tecnica in modo personale. Da questa ricerca sono nati i miei foulard ariosi e leggeri, ormai riconosciuti come un tratto distintivo del mio stile. Sembrano fatti di fili sospesi nell’aria e ricordano talvolta i quadri di Jackson Pollock. Grazie a tecniche di assemblaggio tessile non replicabili industrialmente, ogni pezzo è un unicum, sospeso tra arte, design e moda.

La mia passione per il riuso creativo e il riciclo tessile è presente in molte opere, dove la sostenibilità si esprime con originalità e poesia.

Oltre a vendere nel mio atelier e nel negozio online, partecipo ogni anno a fiere d’arte e mercati dell’artigianato. Le mie creazioni oggi sono distribuite anche nei mercati statunitense e giapponese grazie a collaboratori e agenti.

Accanto alle mie collezioni di foulard, coltivo anche una seconda passione legata più all’arte contemporanea: la creazione di installazioni murali e oggetti tessili tridimensionali, che realizzo principalmente nell’ambito di progetti artistici e mostre.

TEXTILES KUNSTHANDWERK AUS HAMBURG

Der experimentelle Umgang mit Techniken, Materialien und Farbästhetik beschäftigt mich schon seit meinem Studium an der Hochschule für bildende Künste in Hamburg. Nach meinem Uni-Abschluss und einigen Jahren, in denen ich selbstständig als Graphikerin arbeitete, wagte ich schließlich den Richtungswechsel, der für mich letztendlich der Startschuss meiner Karriere als Künstlerin und Kunsthandwerkerin sein sollte.
Inspiriert durch eine Studienreisereise nach Mexiko, auf der ich fasziniert war von der farbenfrohen und besonderen mexikanischen Webkunst, beschloss ich das Handweben zu erlernen. Bei der Ausbildung am Handwebstuhl konnte ich meine kreativen Ideen in Gewebe umsetzen und entdeckte eine große und vielfältige Bandbreite an textilen Ausdrucksmöglichkeiten. Im Anschluss an meine Gesellen- und Meisterprüfung, eröffnete ich mein Atelier, in dem ich bis heute meine Textilkunst produziere, ausstelle und verkaufe. In einem so bunten und vielfältigen Stadtteil wie Hamburg-Altona fühle ich mich mit meiner künstlerischen Arbeit zu Hause und immer wieder aufs neue inspiriert.

Schon kurz nachdem ich das Weben in meiner Ausbildung erlernt hatte, begann ich das Raster der Rechtwinkligkeit, das dem Webprozess zugrunde liegt, zu durchbrechen und die traditionelle Webart individuell für mich zu interpretieren und zu verändern. Das Resultat sind die besonderen Schals, die heute für Viele charakteristisch für meine Arbeit stehen. Die luftigen Schals wirken, als würden sie aus eingefangenen Fäden bestehen, die manchmal an die Gemälde von Jackson Pollock erinnern. Spezielle Techniken der Textil Assemblage, die industriell nicht einsetzbar sind, machen jedes Stück zu einem Unikat, das im Grenzgebiet von Kunst, Design und Mode rangiert. Auch meine Leidenschaft für die Wiederverwendung und die Zweckentfremdung vielfältiger Textilien im Sinne von Textilrecycling zieht sich durch viele meiner Werke, in denen sich der Recycling-Gedanke auf kreative Art und Weise wiederfindet. Neben dem Verkauf in meinem Ladenatelier und über den Online-Shop stelle ich jedes Jahr auf vielen verschiedenen Kunsthandwerksmärkten, Messen und Ausstellungen meine Schaldesigns zur Schau und verkaufe meine Arbeiten mittlerweile auch über Agenten auf dem amerikanischen und japanischen Markt.

Neben den vielen unterschiedlichen Schalkollektionen, die ich im Laufe meiner Karriere entworfen und produziert habe, habe ich eine weitere Leidenschaft, die sich in erster Linie dem Gebiet der freien Kunst zuordnen lässt. Es handelt sich hierbei um künstlerische textile Raumobjekte und Wandbehänge, die ich zumeist im Rahmen von Kunstprojekten oder Ausstellungen herstelle und präsentiere.
