As a part of the Donald Gray Grants 2025 – Apprenticeship Opportunity with Master Woodcarver Miguel Ángel Tapia
A €6,000 grant is being offered to support a six-month apprenticeship under Miguel Ángel Tapia, renowned master carpenter, sculptor, and winner of the 2025 Richard H. Driehaus Building Arts Award (carpentry category).
Based in Valladolid, Miguel Ángel specialises in traditional Castilian wood carving and religious sculpture at his workshop Aquí se hacen Santos. The apprenticeship will focus on hands-on training in carving, joinery, gilding, and polychromy.
The selected apprentice will receive financial support and guidance throughout the programme. The master will also receive support for training expenses. Both will be expected to share regular updates on progress.
